City remains rostering free

AS THE Chief Minister was in town, the citizens had a rostering-free day. Besides proper power supply, the voltage was stable. However, just as the Chief Minister was out, the electricity, too, went off. Line faults that hampered the power supply in many localities, like Civil Lines, Tilak Nagar, Swaroop Nagar, Parade and other areas, could not be rectified till afternoon.

However, just as the Chief Minister was out, the electricity, too, went off.
Line faults that hampered the power supply in many localities, like Civil Lines, Tilak Nagar, Swaroop Nagar, Parade and other areas, could not be rectified till afternoon. It happened because most linemen and engineers were assigned the job of keeping uninterrupted power supply during the Chief Minister’s visit. The faults could be rectified only after the Chief Minister left for the State Capital.

Though the government had assured that the would be citizens provided with power supply, nothing could be done to maintain the power supply.

Every night the power electricity goes off from 2 am to 5 or 5.30 am. Again, the roistering begins from 7.30 am to end 3 pm.

Besides, during the power supply, local line faults caused problems.

Despite repeated complaints, the linemen could not correct the faults. This often led to serious clashes between the KESCo employees and the consumers at the sub- stations.

The power supply position in the south city is rather grave. According to the local residents, since no VVIP is residing in the localities belonging to the south city, they were treated as the most neglected lot. Linemen take over month’s time to rectify a fault. There is no fixed time for the power supply or rostering.
