A sunny day on Friday also dispelled apprehensions of a damp Diwali, which cropped up following heavy showers on Thursday, which affected Dhanteras buying.

The sun brought great relief to the business community of Bhopal – be it big traders or small time hawkers. Thursday evening’s rain was a big blow to the Dhanteras market, as business transaction declined. The worst hit were street hawkers and small vendors and fireworks dealers.

A clear sky brought cheer to the market and by afternoon, business started picking up. Hawkers and vendors were back to business with an all too eager public.

Firecracker retailers, however, were concerned over wholesalers selling crackers directly to consumers. “Wholesalers going for direct selling at Halalpura is highly objectionable and has caused immense damage to retailers in the City. It’s also disturbed the prices,” remarked firework retailer Mahendra Kumar Kothari.
