AROUND 1,000 acres of land has been allotted for five research centres of national standard, a medical town and a police technical training institute around Bhopal.

Minister for Commerce and Industry Babulal Gaur on Tuesday said apart from this land, another 400 acres land is being provided for the expansion of Raja Bhoj Airport on lines with international requirements. The present length of the airstrip is being increased to 11,000 feet, where as many as 20 aircraft could be parked at the same time.

According to an official press release issued on Tuesday, Gaur said two institutes viz. Excellence Institute of Architects on 100 acre of land at Bhaunri and Indian Institute of Science and Research on 200 acre of land at village Pipalner, Gandhi Nagar would be established by Human Resources and Development Ministry of the Union Government.

He said efforts were on for the last two years for establishment of these institutes. Further, 100 acres of land was being allotted to Bhartiya Infrastructure Limited to set up a medical township, 212 acre land to Triple ITD in front of New Jail in village Badwai, 100 and 150 acres land for MP Police Technical Training Institute and for Training and Research Institute of Border Security Forces in Chandukhedi have been kept reserved.

At present, the airport has 700-acre land and after its expansion the present airstrip length of 6,700 feet would be increased to 1,100 feet, where 16 to 20 aircrafts could be parked at the same time. Similarly, the present width of the airport would be increased to 700 feet and international air services could be made operational after the airport expansion.

He asserted that 267 acre land in village Barkheda Bondar and 133 acre land in village Mirpur, Mubarakpur and Bairagarh are being provided to the defence department in place of the 400 acre of the acquired land. He said Bhopal would be developed as the educational hub after establishing institutes of national repute.
