If Allahabad Development Authority's (ADA) ambitious Nav Prayag Yojna sees light of the day, people of this city will no more be curious to see Mumbai's Marine Drive. Plans are afoot to construct a hundred metre wide road along the Yamuna river.

The Nav Prayag colony will be next to it with enough space for greenery and setback in between, informed Raja Ram Upadhyaya, newly appointed Vice Chairman of ADA while talking to mediapersons on Wednesday.
The area will serve as a picnic spot not only for the residents of Nav Prayag colony who will have the feel of a beach resort but for other inhabitants of the city who will have many recreational facilities here. Such is the plan that the area will have no traffic congestion during the next hundred years.
He said, till now there were several glitches in taking over possession of this land but all these have now been removed following the court's order. Now the ADA has plunged itself into developing the whole area and hand over possession of plots to the buyers who fulfill certain formalities, he added.
Soon buyers will have a sprawling stretch of land with 1466 plots. The size of plots varies from 70 sq.m to 250 sq. m. Out of these eight plots will be used by the ADA to construct group housing schemes. Owners will be free to carry out construction of their choice on their plots, he added.

Meanwhile, the VC has urged residents not to indulge in any kind of illegal construction and help ADA to protect the infrastructure of the city. Accepting that he had received many complaints of illegal construction being carried out in the city he agreed that many of them were being done with the connivance of ADA officials.
However, he also defended the ADA officials by saying that in certain cases they find themselves helpless.
When his attention was drawn towards buildings where construction work was going on in full swing even after they were sealed recently by the ADA officials, he said in the first step we serve notice to the guilty person. The next step is to seal the building and in case this action doesn't bring any result we take police help.
He, however, warned that ADA will not hesitate in carrying out demolition, which is the last resort, in case people go on breaking building laws. He admitted that parking was a big problem and it has to be tackled in order to ease the flow of traffic. A complaint cell has been opened by him and people can approach the same with written complaints, he informed and added we are committed to implementing various HC directive issued in public interest.
