The result of this election would cast its shadow on the political career of around half a dozen leaders including BJP MP Yogi Adityanath and the ministers of ruling party.

The election was prestigious for state minister Jaiprakash Yadav, SP MLC Ganesh Shanker Pandey and party’s district unit president Chandrabali Yadav.
The strategy made by these three leaders has ensured the defeat of the BJP candidate and saffron brigade candidate in the assembly by-election at Kauriram. The SP leaders has also defeated Adityanath candidate in Zila Panchayat chairperson election and if the SP candidate for mayor post would emerge victorious, it would be a grand success for the trio and SP. At the same time it would be a major setback to the BJP and saffron brigade.

Though, there were 18 candidates in the fray for mayoral post but it was a direct fight between SP candidate Sitaram Jaiswal and BJP and saffron brigade candidate Anju Chaudhary.

It is notable that Adityanath has hit hard on the SP government policies and claimed that on his own political strength, he has filed Anju Chaudhary who is contesting the election.

Contrary to it, ruling SP has deployed two state ministers, three party MLAs and two MLCs to monitor the election campaign of Sitaram Jaiswal.

The result would determine the new dimension of politics in eastern UP.
