Civic poll: Candidates intensify campaigning

AS THE civic election is round the corner, the mayoral candidates of different political parties have invested their full energy and left no stone unturned to woo the electorates in their support here in Varanasi. Election is will be held on October 31.

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the mayoral post Kaushlendra Singh and other party workers toured different areas like Dhopchandi, Alaipura and Jaitpura on Tuesday.

Similarly, mayoral candidate of the Congress Chandradeo Prasad Jaiswal and local Member of Parliament Rajesh Mishra toured different wards, like Pandepur and Premchand Nagar Colony.

To intensify the election campaign, the Samajwadi Party’s mayoral candidate Kanahiya Lal Gupta and other party workers took out a march (padyatra).

Talking to media persons, SP leader Rajendra Trivedi said state minister Virendra Singh and other party leaders participated in the march.

The march, which started from Shivpur area, concluded at Lalpur. Trivedi claimed that SP would win the civic election with full majority. Besides, other candidates for mayoral posts from different political parties also toured different wards on Tuesday.
