Additional municipal commissioner Raghvendra Vikram Singh of the Kanpur Municipal Corporation has still not been able to submit an inquiry report on the matter.

The inquiry, into the alleged misappropriation of Rs 7.5 crore, has been going on for over a month now. The deadline fixed by the district magistrate and administrator of the KMC Deepak Kumar was 10 days. However, the inquiry into the alleged misappropriation still seems far from over. The State Government has now sought details of the misappropriation of State Finance Commission funds along with the role of the chief account officer (CAO) within a week’s time.

The State Government’s directive comes in wake of the complaint filed by a Member of Parliament Radhey Shyam Koiree and district president of Kanpur Dehat Lal Singh who have alleged that the SFC fund, to the tune of Rs 7.5 crore, had been misused by PN Singh for his personal gains.

As far as the inquiry was concerned, according to sources, initially it was the problem of unavailability of requisite documents mainly from the bank’s side, while now, it was the problem of 400 pages documents from the bank, which has slowed down the speed of the inquiry. According to sources, matching the records of the bank with that of the KMC has become a tedious job. The sources said that the record matching would still take at least over a week only then the inquiry report in the matter could be submitted to the DM.
