According to police, both sides were armed with lathis, rods and axes resulting in injuries to several persons from both sides.

The girl belonging to ‘Bedia’ community was called to the Dongaria village for a celebration after the harvest. The programme was organised at Jhanda Chowk and was scheduled to continue the whole night. However, one group felt the other group was forcing the girl to dance as per their whims. Since there had earlier been an argument over sitting arrangements this fresh row led to an altercation that soon took a violent turn.

Both groups clashed with each other causing injuries to almost a dozen persons. The injured were later admitted to hospital though the condition of none is critical. Most of the people were drunk at the time of the clash.

On the complaint of Nawab Miyan, the police have registered a case against Dinesh, Preetam, Vishram, Khuria, Janak, Pramod, Niranjan, Umesh, Lakhan and Aaraam Singh. Similarly, on the complaint of Dinesh, the police have booked Hameed, Nawab, Imran, Mattu Khan and others. The Berasia police have booked both sides for rioting, clash, criminal intimidation et al.

It is surmised the attackers had an old enmity with the complainant. The police have registered a case against the accused persons and are investigating the case.
