Class-12 students want exam date-sheet changed

Thousands of students who are appearing in Class-12 examination from Chenab valley region allege that the Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued date-sheet of higher secondary part-2, regular examination, for students falling under winter zone of the province without giving much thought.

Thousands of students who are appearing in Class-12 examination from Chenab valley region allege that the Jammu Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has issued date-sheet of higher secondary part-2, regular examination, for students falling under winter zone of the province without giving much thought.

Piaray Lal, father of a student, Sunita Devi, of Kishtwar said they were astonished on seeing the date-sheet in a newspaper as there is a gap of one or two days between two papers, which is not sufficient to make prepare for exams.

Another student, Rekha Kotwal, said the date-sheet issued by the authorities is not acceptable. "We will request the board authorities to cancel the date-sheet in the interest of thousands of candidates."

Iqbal and Anil Kumar, who are also going to appear in the higher secondary part-2 exam, said if the authorities of state board of school education did not cancel the date-sheet, they will be forced to hold a protest. Stating that they will not appear in the examination, they said they have appealed to the education minister as well as higher authorities of the school board to intervene
into the matter so that students do not have to suffer.

Parents of students rue that national festivals like Eid, Dussehra and Diwali have also not been taken into consideration besides Pooja holidays, from October 30 to November 5 has also not taken into account while planning the date-sheet.

The JKBOSE, Jammu, has announced the Class-12 exam date-sheet of the October/November session 2013 (annual regular winter zone of Jammu division) on September 17.

Students have urged the JKBOSE authorities to reschedule date sheet as soon as possible and never conduct Class 10 and12 exams in October.
