Fourth-seeded Belgian Kim Clijsters subdued Wimbledon champion Venus Williams 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 on Tuesday to reach the US Open semi-finals.

Clijsters advanced to a clash with top-seeded Russian Maria Sharapova.
