Close associate of slain separatist joins PDP

Opposition PDP in Jammu and Kashmir got a shot in the arm ahead of polls in three Lok Sabha seats of Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla with a close associate of slain separatist leader Abdul Ghani Lone and eight prominent Sikh leaders joining the party along with their supporters.

Opposition PDP in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday got a shot in the arm ahead of polls in three Lok Sabha seats of Anantnag, Srinagar and Baramulla with a close associate of slain separatist leader Abdul Ghani Lone and eight prominent Sikh leaders joining the party along with their supporters.

Mohammad Amin Wani, an advocate by profession and Kupwara district president of Peoples Conference (PC) founded by Lone along with his supporters joined PDP in the presence of party Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

A close associate of Lone, Wani's joining the PDP is expected to boost the party's chances in Baramulla going to polls on May 13.

Another Peoples Conference leader from the district Hafizullah also joined the party along with Wani.

Meanwhile, eight prominent Sikh leaders from Srinagar and Budgam districts along with their supporters also joined the PDP.

The Sikh leaders who joined the party include former president of Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Srinagar, current President of Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Budgam and the Chief of United Kashmir Sikh Front.
