Around 35 people were missing from villages Kimana, Giriya, Sansari, Mangoli, Chunni, Brahmankholi, Juatok and Premnagar, which were the worst affected in a series of cloudbursts that resulted in flash floods and landslides.

Expressing grief over the deaths in Ukhimath, Rudraprayag, Kapkot and Bageshwar districts, Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna said R10 crore had been provided to DM Rudraprayag and R1 crore to DM Bageshwar to provide immediate relief to the affected families.

The district administration, police and disaster management department started search and rescue operations along with ITBP and military personnel, while a National Disaster Relief Force team was sent to Rudraprayag. A helicopter was also pressed into service to lift the injured.

Out of the 15 injured, four seriously injured persons were admitted to Srinagar hospital.

Apprising the media of the Ukhimath incident, the CM said he was personally monitoring the relief work.
