WITH THE change in climatic conditions, cold breeze coupled with fog has started enveloping Varanasi and its adjoining districts since the last couple of days.

The minimum temperature has been hovering at around 8 degrees Celsius for the last couple of days whereas the maximum day temperature is fluctuating between 28 – 25 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, Varanasi experienced cloudy weather forcing the citizens to wear warm clothes.
Meanwhile, a large number of make-shift shops, specially set up by Tibetans, have come up in different localities including Teliabagh, Madagin, Baniabagh and Nai sarak areas.
People thronged these shops to purchase warm clothes including jackets, shawls and sweaters. These winter items are available at these shops in the range of Rs 200 to Rs 500.
Earlier in the day, areas of ghats on the bank of river Ganga wore a deserted look as thick fog and cold breeze enveloped them. The number of boats plying on the Ganga also decreased in view of the dip in mercury.
