CHIEF MINISTER Mulayam Singh today criticised the Centre for power crisis in the State. He said UP was deprived of its share in the electricity distribution, in comparison to the other states.

The CM was addressing the gathering of doctors and medical students at the Scientific Convention Centre after inaugurating the RP Shahi Renal Transplant OT Complex at KGMU.

Singh said UP was getting only 200 MW of electricity against the population of one crore, while Punjab gets 300 MW and Haryana gets 269 MW against population of every crore. He said UP should get 2400 MW electricity as per the population.“It is not that UP was backward in any case but the fact is that without the state’s progress, the nation cannot become a super power. We are finalising a project with the Uttaranchal Government worth Rs 2600 crore, to better the power situation in the State,” he said.

Criticising the Congress, Singh narrated the efforts taken by the State Government for the progress of Rae Bareli and mentioned that issue of ‘office of profit’ was raised with specific targets. He said that there were many holding various offices of profits but targets were specific.

He even criticised past governments and said the suspension and transfer had been tools to earn profits from officials. He challenged the opponents to name an officer that was demanded money by the present State Government.
