THE Government health staff including medical officers will now not be easily able to fudge the records of routine immunisation and other vaccination programmes for children and women, in rural areas.

In a move to effectively put an end to the common 'practice' of presenting inflated reports of Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) and other routine vaccination programme in villages, it has been decided to maintain four counter foils of records of these health programmes at various levels.
The 'Asha' workers have also been made more accountable under the new initiative of the district health department.
Chief medical officer, Dr Shantimal Singhavi, on Wednesday directed to maintain four counter foils of records of routine immunisation, RCH programme and other vaccination programmes including polio in the rural areas.
A copy of the record will remain with the beneficiary and the other copies will be maintained by an Anganwadi worker, ANM (Midwife) and CHC/PHC incharge.
"The records will also have the name of mother and child, covered under the programme. The entries in all the four copies will be matched regularly and it will be signed by the medical officer.

Dr Singhavi said the Asha workers have also been directed to maintain a record of all the new born babies, their vaccination schedule, pregnant women in their areas and other ante-natal care provided to them.
"In this way we will be able to identify infant mortality rate and birth rate, number of deliveries and services provided by the Asha workers.
The payment to the Asha workers will be released on the basis of these records," he added.
Dr Singhavi said the orders in this regard have already been issued to the CHC/PHC incharges.
