CMPDC closed after assault on teacher
UNIDENTIFIED STUDENTS of Chaudhari Mahadev Prasad Degree College (CMPDC) assaulted a teacher here on Saturday. The incident took place when the teacher was coming out of his house located in the Teacher?s Colony while he was on his way to college.

Angry with the assault, CMPDC teachers and students forced closure of the college and demanded immediate arrest of the guilty students. Students also condemned the incident and extended their support to the teachers who threatened to keep the college till closed the culprits were arrested.
Dr SK Mishra of CMPDC was reportedly accosted by three unidentified persons while he was heading towards the college from Teacher’s Colony this morning.
The miscreants hurled abuses and accused Dr Mishra of beating up one of the students in the college. The assailants then turned violent and started beating Dr Mishra with stick and rods.
Dr Mishra managed to escape and informed other teachers about the incident. As soon as the news spread on the campus, teachers and students immediately closed the college in protest.
The CMPDC Shikshak Sangh held an emergency meeting and condemned the incident. The association demanded that district administration must arrest the culprits within three days. The teachers threatened to launch an agitation if the district administration failed to arrest the culprits in the given time.
It should be noted that Dr Mishra is the general secretary of the AU Constituent Colleges and Teachers Association (AUCCTA) and CMPDC Teachers Association.
Dr Mishra said that the assault could have been planned by someone in the college. Dr Mishra lodged an FIR at George Town police station in this regard.
Heavy police force was deployed at the college.
AUCCTA president Dr Rammuni Pandey condemned the incident and said that AUCCTA members had demanded arrest of the guilty students and threatened to close all the 11 constituent colleges if no action was taken within 24hours. He urged the principals of all constituent colleges to prohibit entry of such anti-social elements who created hindrance in studies and disturbed the academic atmosphere of the college.
CMPDC Sikshak Sangh also threatened to stage intense demonstration if the district administration failed to arrest the culprits.
