In a historic coming together, the presidents of Coca Cola India and Pepsi India shared a common platform to refute Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) charges that the pesticide level in their products was way above the global norms.

Sanjeev Gupta, president, Coca Cola India called for an appointment of an independent enquiry body to look into the allegations. He said all Coca Cola products were repeatedly tested for safety norms.

He also said that the 'trial by media' was unfair and an unacceptable way of conducting an issue like this.

Rajiv Bakshi, President Pepsi India too shared the sentiments and said 'we are clear'. He said the Pepsi products were the same that were sold everywhere and were cleared by top grade testing.

He to called for India's top scientists to look into the matter.Earlier in the day CSE had released their study that revealed that 12 leading soft drink brands in India, including Coke and Pepsi, contain pesticides well above the global norms.
