Cold wave claims two more lives in Gujarat
Two persons have died in the last 24 hours in Saurashtra due to the cold wave which has been sweeping the region and Kutch area of Gujarat for the last one week.
A mentally unstable youth identified as Mithun Sareda (20 year) died last morning due to cold in Shivpara area of the city. Gogan Sagar (75) of Lakhapar town of Amreli district too died due to the cold on Saturday, police said.
In December, four persons had died due to cold, police said.
Normal life has been affected due to chilly atmosphere and many schools and educational institutions have changed their morning schedule.
Naliya in Kutch district recorded a minimum temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius last night while Rajkot recorded 5.1 degrees Celsius followed by Jamnagar at 5.4, Porbander 6.4 and Amreli 6.8 degrees Celsius, Met Department officials said.
