THE VISHWA Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to burn the effigy of District Collector Vivek Aggarwal at several places in the City tomorrow to protest against the murderous attack on Bajrang Dal City convener Pradeep Nair by him on New Year’s Eve.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meting of the VHP held at noon today. Bajrang Dal leader Ajay Maheshwari said that senior leaders of the Bajrang Dal met today and decided to register their anger over the incident by burning the effigy of the Collector. Party workers would burn the effigy in their respective areas.

The VHP is furious over the fact that the Inspector General (IG) of Police had not taken any step so far on the issue. A VHP delegation had met the IG two days back and had demanded action against the Collector and were assured of action after investigations into the matter in two days. But, the IG did not take any action, which has prompted the VHP to go to the people to register their protest.

Earlier, there was talk of VHP calling a City bandh as protest, but as there was no consensus on the issue they decided to go for effigy-burning.
