Collectors told to reserve drinking water sources

CHIEF MINISTER Shivraj Singh Chouhan has asked district Collectors to be ready with adequate arrangements and precautionary measures for ensuring drinking water during summer.

He instructed them to reserve drinking water sources under the Water Protection Act on a precautionary basis. He said all districts concerned have been provided required funds for drinking water arrangements and water transportation during emergency.

Shivraj Singh was dialoguing with Collectors of 17 districts under the second Madhya Pradesh Samadhan Online programme at Mantralaya here today. It may noted here the Chief Minister holds dialogue with district Collectors on first Tuesday of every month for quick solutions to people’s grievances. He also talked to the complainants.

Addressing Collectors, Shivraj Singh asked them to organise Lok Kalyan Shivirs so that benefits of welfare schemes could reach large number of people and their general problems could also be addressed promptly. He instructed Collectors to efficiently utilise the funds under Sampoorna Gramin Rozgar Yojana.

Responding to reported loss of crops of wheat and banana by storm in Burhanpur district and the demand of special package of the affected farmers, the Chief Minister said Minister In charge of the district Antar Singh Arya has visited the affected areas and necessary steps would be taken after studying the report on the crop loss.
