Days after over 1,000 students unleashed violence on campus over the death of a classmate, the management of Dronacharya College of Engineering lodged a police complaint without naming any of the protesters.
The college administration apparently filed the complaint because it was essential for claiming damages from the insurance companies for repairing vehicles vandalised in Thursday’s protest.
On Thursday, more than 1,000 students staged a violent protest, burning down two buses and the cafeteria, stoning staff cars, ransacking the laboratory and thrashing teachers. They were protesting against the alleged negligence of the management after 19-year-old computer science student, Kshitija Babbar, died of cardiac arrest.
Though the protesters can be easily identified from the footage recorded in CCTV cameras, the management did not name any student to avoid any further clash.
“Without the police complaint, we will not get the insurance claim. The management did not want to file the case against any of the students even though they have done something wrong,” one of the staff lecturers told HT.
On the other hand, the students continue writing blogs and posting hate messages on various social networking websites against the management.
