The decision to transfer SHO of Sihani Gate Suraj Pal Singh came after police authorities were criticised by students, industrialists, traders and teachers’ associations for not being able to nab the accused.

Chairman of Sunderdeep Engineering College, Suresh Chand Gupta was shot dead by unidentified persons in Model town area near his residence last Friday.

The SHO has been sent to police lines and security cover has been provided to Mahender Gupta, elder brother of the deceased, and his family after the incident, SSP Raghubir Lal said.

Meanwhile, Director General of the college Subhash Chand Gupta condemned the murder and said ‘poor’ policing was responsible for the murder.
