Colleges can now carry out research work

IN A significant decision, the working committee of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University has empowered the recognised and affiliated degree colleges to carry out research work at degree colleges where postgraduate classes are being run.

IN A significant decision, the working committee of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University has empowered the recognised and affiliated degree colleges to carry out research work at degree colleges where postgraduate classes are being run.

The registration for research will be held in the university. Degree college teachers who have an experience of five years of teaching in postgraduate colleges, will be entitled to carry out the research work. The working committee meeting was convened here to discuss 22-point agenda including the date for convocation programme.

They also decided to introduce Environmental Science as a compulsory subject at the graduate level. The committee also decided to organise the 26th convocation programme on March 10. A proposal will be sent to the chancellor to take the final decision on the date and chief guest.

The committee took up various issues including providing separate department status to journalism and mass communication. So far the department was attached with Hindi department. Similarly, the committee also approved to constitute a separate department of statistics and mathematics, which was so far part of the science faculty.

The hectic meeting of the working committee started at around 11 am to discuss the agenda and concluded at 5 pm. It discussed various issues related to Science, Commerce and Arts Faculties.
