The HRD ministry on Friday notified a committee to suggest ways to prevent ragging in educational institutions. To be headed by RK Raghavan, former CBI Director, the committee have academicians from different parts of the country.

The committee was constituted on directions of the Supreme Court, which had expressed concern over ragging incidents in educational institutions. The court had heard about 24 cases including that of a son of an IIT principal, who had lost lives due to excessive ragging on college/university campuses in various parts of the country.
