ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY proctor Prof HN Mishra on Tuesday formed a four-member committee of assistant proctors to probe the fight that broke out in the English department between two student groups recently. The students had reportedly fought over a tour that some interested students were excluded from.
The committee, comprising Dr Dhananjay Yadav (Education Department), Dr Faiyazul Haq (Arabic and Persian department), Dr AK Malviya (Commerce department) and Dr Indrani Bannerjee (English department), will submit their report to the proctor by January 7. Action against the guilty students will be taken on the basis of the report.
Meanwhile, the proctor has also asked the parents of the students accused of having indulged in eve-teasing at JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology, recently, to submit explanations for their wards’ behaviour. The female student too has been asked to appear before the proctor on Wednesday and explain the allegations made in the complaint submitted by her.
Strict checking during exams
FLYING SQUAD members of Allahabad University, led by AU controller of exams Prof HS Upadhyaya and proctor Prof HN Mishra, chased away some outsiders strolling around the Faculty of Commerce where MBA semester exams began on Tuesday.
The squad members, which included lady teachers, also checked each and every student appearing for the examination to detect any use of unfair means by them during the exam. The semester exam will continue for three days.

{{/usCountry}}Prof Upadhyaya said, “Our aim is to ensure that students appear for the exams fairly and no one, be it inside the exam halls or outside, does anything that can give an opportunity to someone to raise a finger at the process. The strictness shown on day one will continue right through the exam period.”
Students protest
Allahabad University Union and Pratiyogita Chhatra Morcha members demonstrated at the district collectorate to protest against the formation of the State Staff Selection Commission, on Tuesday. They also protested against the State Government’s non-acceptance of their demand to make selection of at least 10 per cent of the candidates appearing in the PCS (pre) examination mandatory.
