Commuting made easier, city gets new bus route

To provide better connectivity to commuters, the city transport department has earmarked a new intra-city bus route from main bus depot to Sector 10. This is the ninth bus route in the city.

To provide better connectivity to commuters, the city transport department has earmarked a new intra-city bus route from main bus depot to Sector 10. This is the ninth bus route in the city.

“We conducted a trial run last week in which we got good response from the commuters,” said a senior transport official.

Some of the stops on this route are — Mahavir Chowk, Bhuteshwar Temple, Sabzi Mandi, Khandsa Road, DAV Public School, Community Centre at Sector 10, Ram Nagar, Shivaji Nagar, Arjun Nagar and Model Town.

At present, the Haryana Roadways is running around 100 buses in the city.

These buses consists semi low-floor buses, AC buses and specially-designed standard buses.

Majority of these buses ply on intra-city routes while a few go up to Delhi as well.

“This route will be a boon for commuters as they will not be completely dependent on auto-drivers who charge them extra money,” the transport official added. There are already seven intra-city bus routes and one connecting Manesar to Karol Bagh in Delhi.

The transport department is planning to launch two new routes in the city.

“We had planned to launch 11 bus routes. Two are pending which will be starting soon,” said the official.
