THE STATE’S IAS Officers Wives’ Association (IASOWA) is launching a ‘Computer Paathshala’ for slum children to mark the Children’s Day.

More than 40 children gathered at the IASOWA office on Monday to register themselves for the school beginning from Wednesday.

All of them are from slums. Some of them want to improve their Mathematics and some others just play games on computers. Govind Prasad, a 13-year-old boy of Priyadarshan slum, has the ambition to open his own computer centre when he grows up.

“I want to learn the computer so that I can teach other slum children,” he says with confidence. Vivek Mishra, a Class VI student, says, “I want to join the Army. Son of a cook, Vivek wants to do ‘something different’.
Son of a labourer, 15-year-old Akash wants to become a doctor. “I will study hard to achieve my goal,” he dreams.

Jennifer has the dream to become a pilot because, “I like to fly in the air”. Shalini, 13, aspires to join the police to protect women against domestic violence. Why police?
