Addressing the inaugural session of the ‘alumni meet’ at the CSA varsity here on Saturday, Dr Lal expressed his concern over the falling number of original researches in the field of agriculture. He said many of the research thesis he received for evaluating appeared to have been copied from other thesis. Citing an example, he said that a research thesis on ‘ladyfinger’, the scholar had used all the terms and the requirements related to wheat production. Besides, he said that very few scholars visited the fields to make physical studies about the plant under research project.

He advised the research students that they should be realistic and should do researches seriously, as their researches could determine the future of the agriculture in the country and also in the world. He advised them not to take up routine topics for research and should also avoid publishing the research papers without confirming the results.
