Alleging that the present culture in Congress was "vague", BJP star campaigner Varun Gandhi has said that it is "shameful" that the party is "bowing before a foreigner".

"The country today needs leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee. My ancestors fought for the country to free it from the clutches of foreigners and today the same Congress is bowing before a foreigner, which is shameful," he told PTI here last night.

Varun, who had come to address the Shiv Sena-BJP rally, said: "Congress leaders do not give any alternative or put forward any concrete programme but try to scuttle BJP alliance."
He also attacked NCP saying that it had parted ways from the Congress on the foreign origin issue but has now joined hands with the same in Maharashtra.
