Pressing for acceptance of adjournment motion on the issue Ranjit Singh Judeo and Nasib Pathan (both Congress) said, while Uttaranchal had succeeded in attracting industry due to good governance, there had been a sharp decline on the industrial front during the last few years in UP.

Judeo said in the name of industrial development, investors were only interested in prime land in Noida and Greater Noida.

He said even after commitment, entrepreneurs had so far not invested in the State. He said criminals were calling the shots and harassing them.

The Congress member said industrialists were not ready to come to the State, as the crime situation had become uncontrollable. Judeo said, recently, some big companies had migrated from the State to safer places.

Das said VP Singh had been misleading farmers on the Dadri power project.

Meanwhile, leader of the House Ahmad Hasan, refuted Congress charges. He said the UPA Government had been threatening UP-bound industrialists. He said the Centre had also adopted a discriminatory attitude towards the State.
