A resident of Panipat district, Madlauda is keen to contest from the Karnal assembly segment, being represented by the two-time Congress MLA Sumita Singh.

On Sunday, Madlauda started a door-to-door campaign from Prem Nagar locality and announced that every Sunday he would meet the residents to make them aware about the lack of development in the segment.

The local MLA has repeatedly rubbished the charges levelled by Madlauda that Singh was shielding land mafia and ignoring public issues.

A close aide of union minister Kumari Selja, Madlauda has been critical of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Singh.

Madlauda said that he had also started a signature campaign to shift the upcoming Kalpana Chawla Government College to any adjoining village where its campus can spread over 100 acres land as compared to the existing 42 acre land.

Madlauda had contested 2001 assembly elections as a Congress candidate from Karnal, but he forfeited his security deposit.
