However, the motion is likely to have no effect on the state government as ruling BJP has absolute majority in the 182-member House.

"We have moved a no-confidence motion against the present government and it has been accepted by the Speaker during the session, which will be discussed tomorrow (Friday)," spokesperson and Congress MLA from Viramgam constituency Tejashri Patel said.

"The present BJP government has indulged in several corruption practices. The involvement of ministers like Babu Bokhiriya, Anandi Patel and Parshottam Solanki, in corruption (cases) has been confirmed in various courts. They have no reason to continue like this," she said.

Earlier, during Governor Kamla's address to the assembly, Congress demanded CBI probe into the Talathi recruitment scam, disrupting her speech.

According to Patel, recently a BJP party worker's name surfaced in duping aspirant youth to the tune of more than Rs 1.4 crore in the scam. "He has connections with BJP, though ruling party has kept mum. We have demanded a fair investigation in this case by CBI."

In 2003, the state government had announced Rs 6237.33 crore Sujalam Sufalam Yojana (SSY). It was supposed to be completed by 2005 but it is still unfinished. Public accounts Committee of Gujarat assembly unanimously prepared a report indicating a scam of over Rs 500 crore, but it has not been tabled till date, Patel alleged.

The Opposition has been asking to hold a discussion over the scams. Congress members today again demanded a discussion over the alleged cases of corruption and moved the 'no confidence motion'.

BJP's strength in the Gujarat assembly is 119 MLAs as against 55 of the Congress.
