"I have not received any instructions till now, but the Congress has conveyed that whatever promise it has given, will be fulfilled," Monserratte told PTI.

Goa's political scene is hotter with the Congress party mounting pressure on one of its senior most ministers Dayanand Narvekar to quit to pave way for Monserratte.

Monserratte, a former minister, was instrumental in salvaging Digamber Kamat-led government from crisis during July-August last year.

The legislator, who was part of the coup, was the first one to reconsider his decision and support Kamat-led government, giving much needed relief to the Chief Minister.

It was then that Monserratte was promised a cabinet berth, which is being fulfilled now.

Kamat-led government has to drop a Congress minister to make way for Monserratte in the 12-member cabinet.

"I am not a part of any group. I am independent and has been with the Congress-led government since the first coup," Monserratte, who was the most controversial minister due to his alleged involvement in regional plan 2011, said.

"I have not sought any portfolios... I want to remain away from any controversy," Monserratte said.

The Taleigao legislator stated that he will remain independent and would not prefer joining any political outfit at least for now.
