Congress office-bearers said the changes took place on Monday morning. Political pressure from senior party leaders resulted in many relatives and party workers being selected at the last minute, sources said.

For instance, in Inderpuri, Sudeep Chola had been earlier awarded the ticket. But in the morning, he was replaced by Sanjay Gehlot. This move saw protesters gathering outside the Congress office, crying foul against Chola’s alleged disqualification. "A Union minister had promised Sudeep the ticket. But on Monday morning, we got a call saying his ticket has been cancelled," said Manoj Chaudhry, Chola’s brother.

A Congress office-bearer rectified: “The list had been finalised on Sunday itself. But when the list was announced, many senior leaders expressed their unhappiness with some of the names. To ensure everyone was happy with the final list, we made some changes. A meeting was held in the morning and a revised list was then issued.”
