Disgruntled Mahachandra Prasad Singh left the Congress to contest as an independent candidate from Maharajganj parliamentary constituency. In an interview to BK Singh, he says Congress leaders are bereft of a sound vision.

Why did you quit the Congress?
The dictatorial attitude of Ram Jatan Sinha forced me to quit the party. For any devoted partyman, distribution of seats is a disgrace. I have been in the Congress throughout and my sentiments were hurt by ‘sellout’ to the RJD. Sinha has been imposed on the party from ‘above’, therefore he does not feel for it. He made Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad Yadav so hostile that we now have only four seats in Bihar. The four partymen will carry the Congress on its last journey to the cremation ground.
The decision to form a secular alliance was taken without the consent of old partypersons. It is the Congress that will suffer by this arrangement.
In the last parliamentary elections, I secured 3 lakh votes from Maharajganj parliamentary constituency. It was the highest among the defeated candidates of the state. But I could not get the ticket this time.

{{/usCountry}}What is the condition of Congress in Bihar?
The Congress has no future in Bihar. Its workers are a disenchanted lot. They are sitting idle at the time of elections. The Congress has now become a party of disgruntled leaders with no vision.
What will be the focus of your campaign?
People here are scared and the youth lack direction. No development work has been done in the constituency and claims of the outgoing MP are a bundle of lies. I want to make people fearless, give them direction and development. If elected, I will make the constituency prosperous in two-and-a-half years. I believe in work.
