Claiming that a PDP Chief Minister in the state would have provided a healing touch, Mehbooba said Congress should understand that it was PDP which bagged sixteen seats and marginalised NC to 28 seats, thereby ejecting them in valley.

However, Congress exploited the issue and virtually gave birth to a Jammu versus Kashmir situation, she alleged.

The PDP had made it clear to Congress at the onset about a PDP-led government in the state, Mehbooba, daughter of the JKPDP chief Mufti Mohammad Syed said over phone from Srinagar, adding both the parties should honour the verdict of the people.

Refuting allegations that PDP was responsible for the present stalemate, Mehbooba said this is not a tussle for power, but our commitment to honour the aspiration of the verdict of the people, particularly the valley and promises made by us to them.
