THE LOCAL Supply Department today sealed the Area Filling Station owned by Congress leader Amir Haider on the Kursi-Dewa road. The team gave no specific reason for the action, which included cancellation of the petrol pump’s licence.
Amir Haider happens to be the man who had petitioned the Election Commission against Jaya Bachchan for not mentioning two lands purchased by her husband Amitabh Bachchan in Barabanki in her declaration during her re-election to the Rajya Sabha. Haider had filed a similar complaint against Jaya in 2004. Haider had alleged that Amitabh had purchased three lands in Barabanki but Jaya in her declaration mentioned only about one of them. Talking to HT on Friday, Haider said government officials had been pressurising him to withdraw the complaint.
But such pressure tactics of the State government would not deter him from going ahead with his petition, he said adding he had in fact dispatched relevant documents related to the land deals to the SEC today only.
He accused the Mulayam government of only doing lip-service to the Muslims for political gains. “They raided my petrol pump on October 17 just when my son was about to break his Roza fast. They cancelled the licence of my petrol pump on Alvida Friday. So much for the Muslims,” he said.
