HUNDREDS OF Congress workers of Khandwa and Indore staged dharna at MP Western Region Electricity Distribution Company office, Polo Ground in protest against the recently announced hike in power tariff by MP Electricity Regulatory Commission and submitted memorandum to Company Executive Director KG Goswami addressed to Governor Balram Jakhar.

Congress leaders have demanded from the Governor that mismanagement of electricity distribution in Khandwa should be probed and hike in power tariff announced by MPERC should be withdrawn.
Congress committee, Khandwa rural president Punam Patel, City Congress president Ujagar Singh and other workers have threatened that if their demands are not met then they would intensify the agitation.
The Congress leaders maintained in the memorandum that electricity consumers in Khandwa are being cheated and are having a tough time.
They added that Bharatiya Janata Party had promised in its election manifesto that during BJP regime electricity distribution would be brought under control in 100 days and electricity crisis would be overcome.
The memorandum further stated that it is surprising that despite the BJP Government being in power since two years electricity crisis has only intensified. The Congress leaders of Khandwa stated that there is artificial electricity crisis in Khandwa owing to mismanagement and should be probed.
