THE SHIVRAJ Singh Chouhan Government has decided to revive the previous Congress Government’s 11-point programme scheme that provided for connectivity of the Government with 52,000 villages in the State by a click of mouse.
According to sources, the Government has realised the importance of the programme that was discontinued after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power.
The officer who had played a major role in this scheme earlier, has recently been shifted to Chief Minister’s Secretariat and asked to re-package the 11-point programme and make it more result-oriented.
Through the programme, on the computer the Chief Minister can see the latest village-wise, block-wise and district-wise information anywhere in the State and also take action against those not taking their jobs seriously. If the volume involved and complexities associated with it are taken into consideration, it may be the biggest project in the country, says a senior officer.
“The beauty of this programme is that no one can mislead the Government by saying everything is all right,” said the officer associated with the programme.
Under this scheme information is collected in two different prescribed forms. Form No. 1 deals with basic information about villages like geographical position, distance from Gram Panchayat, condition of roads, its distance with nearest road, availability of post office, electrification etc.
Village wise information is being collected under various heads along with reasons of failures in Form No. 2. Number of hand-pumps, transformers, schools, primary healthcare centre, whether they are working efficiently, if not, reasons of their failure (like transformer is not working because it is fused, burnt, problem in cable etc. schools or hospitals not opening regularly due to lack of staff or students, teachers not attending classes etc) are marked in the prescribed form.
