Party activists block road

CONGRESSMEN HAVE threatened to continue their stir if the real assailants of party leader Ram Lal Tripathi were not arrested. The leaders have demanded CBI inquiry into the murder case.
While staging a road blockade at Andhrapur crossing during the call of ‘Banaras bandh’ on Thursday, Congress leaders including local MP Dr Rajesh Mishra, Harish Chandra Singh, Rais Ahmad, Anil Srivastava, Satish Rai and Satish Chaubey attacked the administration for putting four innocent youths behind the bars for the murder of Congress leader and trader Ram Lal Tripathi.
The leaders alleged that following the Congress call for Banaras bandh on Thursday, the administration projected arrest of four youths as “killers” of Ram Lal.
The leaders submitted a four-point memorandum to the representative of the district magistrate, which included constitution of a CBI inquiry in Ram Lal murder case, arrest of the real assailants of the Congress leader, FIR against the cops and city president of SP Rakesh Jain for beating up Congress activists at Reori Talab during polling on Tuesday and dismissal of UP government by the governor.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Rajesh Mishra said despite threat on life of Ram Lal Tripathi, the administration did not provide him security as a result of which he was shot dead. He said a meeting of Congressmen would be held after the counting of votes for civic election to intensify the stir. He warned that Congressmen would not tolerate any sort of irregularities during the counting of votes at the behest of the ruling SP government.
