The opposition Congress in Karnataka on Saturday asked the Centre to depute a team to assess law and order situation in the state "in the wake of attack unleashed by Sangh Parivar outfits on citizens".
The team should study the law and order situation and submit a report to the Union Home Ministry, state unit Working President D K Shivakumar told PTI.
"Sangh Parivar outfits like Bajrang Dal, RSS and others have been virtually ruling Karnataka in the name of BJP. These outfits have unleashed a reign of terror", he said.
Condemning the abduction of Kerala CPI(M) MLA, C K Kunhambu's daughter and her male friend while they were travelling in a bus at Mangalore on Friday, Shivakumar asked the state government to initiate stringent action against the culprits.
Shivakumar also requested Governor Rameshwar Thakur to send in a report to the Centre on the situation arising out of the recent attack on a pub and yesterday's abduction.
