The Congress today slammed the ruling BJP for its attempts to use the Cabinet as a "shield" to protect its government and its ministers from charges of corruption and its demand that the Governor not give consent for prosecuting Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

Accusing the BJP of shielding corrupt ministers including mining magnates, the Reddy brothers, Karnataka PCC President G Parameshwara charged that the ruling party leaders were trying to cover up the corrupt deeds of Yeddyurappa, who has "no moral right to continue in office."
In a statement, Parameshwara flayed the BJP's threat of holding protests and giving a call for bandh to protest against the Governor H R Bhardwaj, if he accords consent to prosecute Yeddyurappa and home minister R Ashoka.
