State Congress president Manikrao Thakare suggested that the Congress would dem-and to change seat-sharing formula for the Assembly polls.

“Both the Congress and NCP suffered a lot in the recent Lok Sabha polls because they shared seats as per the 2004 formula,” said Thakare.

He justified the demand saying that delimitation has chan-ged several constituencies. “We need to consider the ground reality in such cases.”

On Monday, Thakare said the party high command would take a final call on the matter. “I have forwarded our obser-vers’ report to the party seniors in New Delhi.”

A party source said the Congress and NCP leadership had almost finalised the pact.

Thakare said the party workers had a mixed opinion about forging alliance with the NCP. “Some want the party to go solo and the others want to continue the pact.”

The Congress is riding high after winning the 17 Lok Sabha seats. The party has appointed four senior AICC office bearers Digvijay Singh, Madhusudan Mistry, Mohan Prakash and Rehman Khan to interact with leaders across the state.
