A SPECIAL Package Scheme has been launched by MP Western Region Electricity Distribution Company for disconnected high tension (HT) connections recently, now such consumers whose connections were severed on account of non-payment of energy bills can revive the dead connection by taking advantage of this scheme.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Company Chairman Pramod Agrawal revealed that amount of surcharge under this scheme would be kept aside. Surcharge amount would be kept under suspense account. He added ``if the consumer desires then there is provision in this scheme to reduce contract demand.’’ When such consumer will reconnect his disconnected connection security deposit will be recovered in installments.
The amount of arrears will be recovered in 18 easy instalments. Fifty per cent will be recovered at the time of reconnection and rest of the amount will be recovered in three equal monthly instalments. Agrawal opined that if the consumer makes payment of entire arrears as per the provisions of the scheme, then in that case consumer would be exempted from making payment of surcharge which is kept aside, otherwise entire amount of surcharge would be payable.
Agrawal further said that benefit of this scheme could be availed only by those consumers whose connections are lying dead for more than six months. He said that only those high-tension consumers would be given benefit of Special Package Scheme who have not taken this benefit earlier.
