The CBI chargesheet submitted at the district court here charged Arwin C Sangma, a constable posted at the residence of then DGP W R Marbaniang, of having slit the of Rinehskhem Kharsonoh, working as a maid at the residence of Marbaniang.

Marbaniang, now Director General (civil defence and home guards), was charged with destruction of evidence and giving false information.

The almost decapitated body of Rinehskhem was found on March 7, 2007 in her room in a pool of blood.

The Gauhati High Court had ordered a CBI probe into the incident after the state police failed to make any breakthrough and the CID, which probed the case initially, alleged the IPS officer was trying to influence the probe by harping on a suicide theory.
