Container crushes car, exporter killed

In an early morning accident, a 40-year-old exporter was killed and his brother injured when a container truck loaded with automotive batteries fell on their moving Honda City car on Friday.

In an early morning accident, a 40-year-old exporter was killed and his brother injured when a container truck loaded with automotive batteries fell on their moving Honda City car on Friday.

The brothers, residents of Lajpat Nagar in Delhi, were on their way to Jaipur for some business purpose around 6:30 a.m. when the accident occurred.

Near Shikohpur Crossing on National Highway No 8, the truck hit the road median from the right side after losing
balance.

“The driver lost control over the truck which was almost full with automotive batteries. The truck tilted towards its left and fell on the Honda City besides it. The container full of batteries fell on the rear portion of the car,” said the SHO of Kherki Daula police station Ramesh Kumar.

Kumar said Subhodh Kumar, who was driving the car, died on the spot while his brother Pramod Kumar escaped with only mild injuries.

The police have registered a case of negligent driving causing death against the driver and have impounded the truck.

The accident took its toll on traffic on the national highway with an hour-long jam following the accident.
