The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) and players' row deepened on Saturday evening when the cricket body withdrew contract of three white cricketers on the eve of the tri-series match against India.

Players' representative Clive Field said Zimbabwe Cricket's decision on Stuart Carlisle, Barnie Rogers and Neil Ferreira was "distressing" and though the team will go ahead with the match on Sunday, they will seek an explanation from the cricket body on Monday.

"It is difficult to understand since Carlisle is the second most capped player in the squad, Rogers was the man of the series in Bangladesh and Neil Ferreira played in the Test series against New Zealand," said Field.

"So cricket can't be the reason. I wouldn't say that it has been high-handedness on the part of ZC. The only thing I can comment is that it would not have a good impact in the dressing room tomorrow."

"We are going ahead with the game tomorrow but the first thing on Monday we would seek clarification from the ZC on why the contract has been withdrawn," said Field.

"At this moment, I wouldn't like to speculate on ZC reasons," said, Field "But it is distressing."
