Convocation: No degrees, just medals!

PASSOUT UNDERGRADUATE students of 2005 will not be awarded degrees during the forthcoming LU Convocation on February 6. The varsity would only confer medals to the undergraduate students who are entitled to the same. However, they would not be awarded their prized degrees on the convocation day. The varsity would only confer medals to the undergraduate students who are entitled to the same. However, they would not be awarded their prized degrees on the convocation day. This move of LU is being strongly resented by the passout UG students.

Not just students, even a member of LU court is not happy with the decision.

“But not awarding degrees to the UG students, the varsity is actually insulting them. LU is not giving similar treatment to its Post Graduate and UG students.

When both study at the same university why this discrimination is being made,” said advocate Arun Kumar Patel, a member of the LU court and president of Apna Dal.

He explained alike PG students, those pursuing UG course also gave fees. Patel advocated that when the varsity used money of both the UG and PG students in organising convocation. Then why not invite and distribute degrees both to UG and PG students from the same podium? However, controller of examination RBS Verma expressed inability to accommodate the Undergraduate students.
