He has crores riding on him, and yet, Punit Malhotra, the debutant director of Karan Johar’s production I Hate Luv Storys, hardly looked flustered. Sporting a big smile on his face, it seemed as if Punit, in the Capital on Monday to promote his film, had hardly a worry in the world.

“We’re not over-confident; it’s just that we’re trying to blind ourselves from the reaction. Jo hoga wo hoga,” he said. While the film provides ample proof of his wit, the director is not lacking in wisecracks, even in real life. “Karan has not paid me... he’s put all the money into the film,” he joked, pointing to his torn jeans.

KJo had liked the screenplay written by Punit so much that preparations for the film started within a week, and Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor were brought on board as the lead pair.

Though not much of a believer in love stories himself, Punit confesses to have fallen in love several times. “The first two-three months (of the relationship) are good, but after that, reality kicks in and that’s dangerous,” he said.
