The Caribbean victory sealed a semi-final berth for Mumbai Indians, who were still on tenterhooks despite being on top of the group with five points going into Tuesday's matches. The defeat of Cobras made sure there can only be one other team that can catch up with them.
Chasing 138 for victory on a slow pitch, T & T looked out of the game with 30 needed off 13 balls. Just then a six brought them back. The T&T fans are a motley a mixture of races and cultures. But they sit together and on Tuesday were the most vocal among those present. Before Cooper's charge, the game was meandering towards a boring end. Dale Steyn bore the brunt as, for the second successive game, he leaked runs at the death. Skipper Justin Kemp criticised him and Charl Lengeveldt. "We batted really well. But we have been bowling really badly at the death. And you can't bowl no-balls in the end (referring to Langeveldt)."
